World Record drop goal attempt by Jaco

first_imgThursday May 3, 2007 World Record drop goal attempt by Jaco In the 49-0 thrashing of the Springboks by the Wallabies in the 2006 Tri-Nations, flyhalf Jaco van der Westhuizen of the ‘Boks had a shocker of a game. This was one of many screw-ups from that match that got him dropped by Jake White.Back home in South Africa he got absolutely ripped to shreds by the public, especially for that squeaky voice of his when shouting at the Ref that it was a dropkick. A moment he’d rather forget no doubt.Jaco is back in action in the Super 14 however with the Bulls, who’re currently competing for a spot in the semis. He’s having a good season too, mainly coming on from the bench as an impact player, and sporting a rather impressive beard. One Limerick mother will share her experience of early infant loss at the service. And people are very welcome to stay after the service for a chat and a cup of tea.Speaking ahead of the service, Marie Hunt, bereavement counselling midwife, UMHL, said: “The death of a baby is recognised as one of the most difficult bereavements in life, having a lifelong impact on parents and families”.“The service is an annual event which aims to acknowledge the pregnancies that were lost and the lives of babies who have died through ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal death. We  welcome parents and families whose babies may have died many years ago as well as those more recently bereaved.“Perinatal grief is a unique experience as parents grieve for their longed-for babies and the hopes and dreams they had for them. The annual remembrance service is a very special event which brings parents and families together in their grief and acknowledges the short lives of their babies,” she said.“Staff at University Maternity Hospital Limerick witness the deep grief and sadness felt by parents who have been told their baby has died.   The remembrance service provides a space for staff, the parents and extended families to reflect on the love and care they have shown to families who are bereaved and to acknowledge and express their own grief and sadness for the little lives that were lost.“Please join us on November 8 to acknowledge and celebrate the babies who had short lives but left a lasting impression of love in our lives,” Ms Hunt said.Staff at UMHL ahead of the annual remembrance service Rita O’Brien, Jean Rafferty, Maria Gibbons, Marie Carroll, Noreen Mann, Eileen Quinlan and Eileen Ronan Print Facebook First Irish death from Coronavirus Linkedin NewsBereaved parents invited to serviceBy Bernie English – November 4, 2015 1614 last_img read more
