Member of Parliament for Princes Town, Barry Padarath, became a crime victim after he and family members were robbed at gunpoint at their home last week Friday.Thankfully, Padarath, and his relatives were not harmed during the incident.According to police reports, they received a report of a robbery at Padarath’s home in Couva at about 11.30 p.m. on Friday.Trade Unionist offers supportMeanwhile, Nirvan Maharaj, President General of the All Trinidad General Workers’ Trade Union and Political Leader of the National Solidarity Assembly (NSA) offered support for Padarath and his family in the aftermath of the robbery.Maharaj expressed concern over the traumatic ordeal Padarath and his family would have endured. He also commented on the Government’s inability to deal with crime.Government spewing rhetoricIn a press release on Tuesday Maharaj stated:“It is indeed an indictment on the Government in power that little is being done to deal with the crime situation. There’s only continuous rhetoric meaning nothing. Worse is the Government’s failure to deal with increasing crime in central Trinidad, where many areas, including Couva, seem to be under siege.“Here is a young man making a contribution to his nation at the highest level and even he is not immune to the savagery of the criminal element. It is unimaginable that an incident such as this could occur, more so while Mr. Padarath was at prayers with his family.“One must ask the question, is nothing sacred anymore in Trinidad and Tobago.“I again call on the Government to ensure that an extraordinary sitting of Parliament is conducted. This is needed for meaningful discussion, and not debate. We need order to generate solutions from our Parliamentarians towards putting a stop to the runaway crime situation facing our nation. Let every Parliamentarian speak live on television and radio, so the country will be aware of the representation given by our Parliamentarians.“On behalf of the All Trinidad General Workers’ Trade Union and the National Solidarity Assembly, I wish Mr. Padarath and his family a speedy recovery from what must have been an emotionally terrifying experience.”

CASTRIES, St. Lucia, CMC – Police Commissioner, Severin Moncherry, Monday said new anti-crime strategies were being implemented as the Royal St. Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) acknowledged it had not been able to achieve the target set regarding murders on the island.Haven’t met some targets“We have reviewed our plans and our strategies and from all indications it would appear that we have not been able to meet some of our intended targets. As a result, we are putting in place new plans, new strategies,” Moncherry told a news conference.More aggressive strategyHe told reporters that the new strategy would be “more aggressive” and that from all indications, it appears that criminals have declared war on the people and by extension, the police.Moncherry had earlier this year, indicated that the police had a plan to keep the number of homicides ‘at a particular level.“That we have not been able to achieve,” he said, as the island has so far recorded 41 murders this year. The Police Commissioner said he wanted to re-assure the public that the police remain committed to the ensuring their safety and security and praised the “‘hardworking’ officers for the work they have done in the past months. He defended the use of force, saying that the law makes provision for the level of force to be used in different circumstances.“If you create the atmosphere and the situation for force to be used, we will surely use force where it is necessary, even if we have to move to the highest level of force provided for in the criminal code of St. Lucia,” Moncherry said, adding that the time had come to deal with crime across the island, and not specifically on the streets.““So whether you be in high office, whether you be a law enforcement officer, whether you be a politician, pastor, teacher, priest – the law will apply to everyone,” Moncherry said.

People who bet are used to putting their money either where their heart is, or where their mouth is. Both motives lead to more fun and – more betting.SBC: From a consumer perspective, how is football betting changing?PP: It’s becoming much more interesting! Consider that 15 years ago we had none (or next to nothing) of:Live bettingMobile bettingLive streamingGlobal coverage of live games on TV (live football is now shown nearly every night)Cash-out and other innovationsSBC: How can betting & football stakeholders work better and more effectively together?PP: A good start would be sport-wide recognition that football and betting can work together for the joint benefit. This goes beyond the already established forms of cooperation (data sharing, sponsorship, integrity issues etc.) and could include joint investments in talent development, sports facilities improvement etc.SBC: What new technology do you feel will have the biggest impact on football betting?PP: Goal-line and wearable technologies would first change the game on the pitch, as well as our common perception and enjoyment of it, whereas up in the trading room and in the IT cloud, it will be the wide adoption of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques that will redefine the sports betting offering we know today.SBC: What key agenda, debate or discussion do you want to hear at BOFCON 2017?PP: The debate on the future of retail, focusing on FOBTs and SSBTs – I guess I will get to hear it, as I am participating! Share It has been a tough start to the season for Real Madrid, but the highlight of their 2017/18 campaign so far also doubles up as September’s top match on bettingexpert.Despite sitting outside of the top four in La Liga after seven games played, the Champions League winners from the last two seasons have been faultless in the competition again this time around, which includes a 3-1 win in the month’s top match at Borussia Dortmund.20% of the tips posted on the match at the Westfalenstadion came on Unibet, with 8% on Matchbook and 6% on bet365. The same three bookmakers also topped the tree for the second and third biggest matches across the bettingexpert network, which both featured £200 million-man Neymar. The biggest surprise in the top ten was the inclusion of TonyBet, which accounted for 10% of the tips on Montenegro’s 1-0 win over Romania in qualifying for next summer’s World Cup. Victory at the Podgorica City Stadium left Montenegro seven points ahead of their Eastern European counterparts in Group E.It was perhaps no surprise to see that tennis lost an 8% share of its tips from last month, given that the Grand Slam season ended just a week into September. Meanwhile, ice hockey was the biggest climber, as the Unibet dominated sport achieved parity with basketball and baseball with 4% of the action. Share Submit StumbleUpon
