COUNCIL CALLS SPECIAL MEETING AS FIANNA FAIL BACK DANA

first_imgDONEGAL County Council has found a way around a nomination bid by Dana, donegaldaily.com can reveal. It would have been too late for her or David Norris to have been included in next Monday’s monthly meeting agenda. Now Fianna Fail councillors in the county have asked for a special meeting next Tuesday in the hope they can support her nomination. Statutory rules show this can be the way of doing it without breaching local authority laws.As long as nine council members turn up, and a majority back Dana, she can get the nomination of the council. It’s understood Fine Gael, Sinn Fein and Labour councillors are now considering whether they should back the right-wing Derry woman, abstain or vote against the nomination. It’s thought Fine Gael is the party most worried about Dana’s possible entry into the election race. Mayor Noel McBride said he has agreed to facilitate the meeting next Tuesday morning, provided notices reach councillors by Friday.COUNCIL CALLS SPECIAL MEETING AS FIANNA FAIL BACK DANA was last modified: September 22nd, 2011 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img
