Rabat – The draw ceremony of the 2018 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) is set to take place on November 17 in Rabat, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Wednesday.The 2018 CHAN matches will take place from January 12 to February 4 in four Moroccan cities: Tangier, Agadir, Casablanca, and Marrakech.According to a statement by the CAF, a meeting by the Organizing Committee of Total CHAN will be scheduled for November 15 in Rabat. The meeting will decide on the draw procedures. Morocco submitted its candidacy to host the continental tournament on September 30 a week after the CAF stripped Kenya of the right to host the competition due to a lack of infrastructure. After Morocco, Ethiopia, and Equatorial Guinea submitted their bids to host the tournament. However, Ethiopia eventually withdrew its candidacy.On October 14, CAF announced that Morocco appeared the most favorite candidate to host 2018 CHAN. Before its selection, Morocco chose four stadiums to host the tournament: Agadir’s Adrar stadium, Tangier’s Ibn Battouta stadium, Casablanca’s Mohammed V stadium, and Marrakech’s grand stadium.The CHAN brings together 16 national teams made up of players selected in their respective national championships: Morocco, Egypt, Libya, Uganda, Sudan, Cameroon, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Angola, Namibia, and Zambia.CAF added that the Democratic Republic of Congo, winner of the last edition in Rwanda, will not participate in the 2018 CHAN, because it was eliminated by its neighbor Congo.
