When addressing the local and international media today, Pacific Games Council (PGC) president Vidhya Lakhan congratulated the PNG Government for its efforts.“After visiting all the venues this week, we were surprised with the amount of work compared to our last visit in getting the games venues ready.“All venues are ready after being tested and trialled and there are no issues.“They’re far better than in past Games so congratulations to the PNG Government,” he said.The PGC was also grateful for the people of the host city, Port Moresby, for the support provided to the Games Organising Committee.The council is confident that the Games will be an excellent event and a success.Four thousand athletes and officials from 24 countries will be involved in the Games.
BREAKING NEWS: Weather Alert: Motorists driving overnight are being warned of dangerous conditions on many roads in the county.Snow, sleet, hail and ice is affecting many roads.Conditions between Stranorlar and Letterkenny are poor, according to motorists. Roads are white on the Barnesmore Gap and on the back of Errigal road.Temperatures there have fallen to -2C.Forecasters had warned of falling temperatures last night.Me Eireann says temperatures could drop to -3C before dawn and has warned of widespread frost and ice on the roads. The cold snap will end later in the morning as cloud comes over Donegal from the north Atlantic and temperatures rise to around 7C later.
