Army saves 500 in Sikkim

first_imgThe Army successfully rescued over 500 tourists who were stranded as a massive hailstorm struck east Sikkim on Thursday. In a five-hour long operation, on Thursday Army units rescued stranded tourists in 75 vehicles.Army officials said the tourists were provided assistance, including medical cover, food, water, warm clothing and lodging, at the nearby Army transit facility. Among the stranded were a large number of women, elders and children. The operation was launched after sunset in extreme cold conditions.last_img
